Speech

Traffic crawled to a halt in a busy downtown intersection. People honked at those in front of them like it would make a difference. Though the more observant stepped out of their cars. More people followed their example and looked up. Floating high above the city was an ominous figure. Onlookers gradually gathered beneath it, gazing up. While they only saw a figure in shadow floating before the sun, much closer you could see he stared down with contempt and fury. An eclipse upon those below.

"You have been judged... Every action. Every inaction. Every moral failing... You have squandered the gifts you have been given. When given life, you curse it with harsh and meager survival. Passing on pain onto others while endlessly gathering it. When blessed with wealth, your greed becomes boundless and you force poverty upon others. When given status, you cast aside all that was there before. Those you dared say you loved, knowing it wasn't true. Those who had the misfortune of loving you, even as you cut them. When given trust, you twist and mangle it before shattering it against the ground...!" Whatever power laid within the man, projected his voice across city, drawing all who can hear. "You have had thousands of years to get it right. To grow. To choose love. Peace. And what do you do...? Again. And again. And again. You choose war. Death. And suffering... You all have been judged. From the maggots at atop their mountains of golden greed. To the maggots writhing in the dirt... All. Shall. Burn."

The man then raised his hand and a blinding flame ignited in his palm. It grew larger and began to spin. Brighter. Faster. More violently, the flame grew. With this new light, the man's contempt was given a spotlight for all to see. The light had grown beyond the size of the man. The heat off of it caused the buildings closest to it to melt. The people below began to panic. Many ran, though the selfish among the crowd pushed and trampled others to get away. Many fell upon their knees, either in faith or despair. Though a few in the crowd simply held their loved ones, knowing escape was impossible. The ominous figure simply lowered his arm, releasing Oblivion... All that remained of the city was a scorched crater.
