The weight while invisible bogs down our protagonist. It's not an impossible weight to carry, but heavy enough to make them give up.
Though they fight on.
It would be made easier if they relied on someone, anyone. Though to the protagonist, there is no one which they can rely on, depend on.
So they fight on.
They know there is a rainbow, a light at the end of the tumultuous path. There has to be. They couldn't have gone through all they've been through and not gotten their happy ending... Right?
Nevertheless. They fight on.
They've seen better, so they know it's real. They've seen others have better, so they know it's possible. They've even experienced better, so they know it's attainable.
And so, they fight on.
As many valleys as they've walked through, they know "This too shall pass".
So evermore, they fight on.
